The Baan Dong Bang Museum and Education Centre was founded in 2015. The warm encouragement of the Governor of Kalasin Province and District Chief Officer of Yang Talat gave it a flying start. We are a not for profit organisation dedicated to improving access to learning and enjoyment in the arts. to learning.
It houses a unique collection of Asian and European art. The goal is to share the pleasure and fun of the collection. We seek to have visitors leave with a sense of enjoyment in arts and history. This is a museum with a difference. We try to connect with all visitors personally in pre-booked visits. The imagination to run galleries in new ways came from working in England and Germany. Here we ran community projects in arts with local people presenting art, history, architecture and music. This was supported by English Heritage, The National Trust, Tag des Offenen Denkmals RLP and the Council of Europe.
The museum welcomes visitors of all ages, especially groups with physical disability, sensory and learning difficulties. The spaces are designed for disabled access with room for a whole class. Live music, hands on object viewing and visitors’ own art creation are the daily norm, not the exception.
The centre welcomes repeated visits to improve engagement and learning, with a sense of value.
